Your support makes a profound difference in the lives of Legacy students. Below is a list of ways you can get involved from donations, to linking your Target credit card to the school, to planned giving and bequests, to introducing Legacy to a Foundation.
Giving takes many forms so if you have an idea that is not listed below, please reach out to us and let us know–we would love to talk.
Legacy’s Annual Fund is our most important campaign. Broad participation from alumni, parents, and friends helps support our academic programs, our faculty, and our facilities. The Annual Fund enables us to remain flexible in meeting our student’s needs, while holding down tuition increases. Both unrestricted and restricted gifts ensure that Legacy will continue to provide the highest quality education to our students. Any gift to the annual fund ensures that our current students benefit and thrive under our low student-teacher ratio, enabling these children to become empowered, life-long learners.
Equally as important as reaching our monetary goals is to achieve 100% Participation from all of our parents. By receiving a response from each family, The Legacy School can show we have full support from our families when the school applies for larger philanthropic donations. 100% faculty, parent, and board participation is a necessary tool in qualifying for grants and corporate donations.
Legacy believes that all children have natural gifts and should possess the tools necessary to succeed with a meaningful and fruitful life. It is always a blessing to be able to offer a student the opportunity to attend Legacy who would otherwise not have the means to attend. With the support of generous donors, like you, this is possible.
Knowing that every financial situation is unique, there is no “one size fits all’ method for giving. Planned Giving can be a wonderful way to give based on your asset mix and financial situation.
Planned giving (sometimes called “gift planning”) can enable you to make a larger gift than you could make from your discretionary income. A planned gift can maximize the contribution to the school and minimize its impact on your estate. Planned gifts differ from contributions to the annual fund, which usually are funded by discretionary income while planned giving is strategically planned with an eye toward one’s overall financial worth.
Bequest through a will, which specifies how a donor’s property will be distributed after death, is the most common type of planned gift. Some other common types of planned giving include, charitable gift annuities, charitable remainder trusts, retirement plans, and life insurance policies. Each method conveys special benefits to the donor, and every one enhances the future of Legacy School.

Legacy’s ‘Yellow BRICK Road’ Brick Campaign
With the growth of The Legacy School, on May 28, 2014 Legacy celebrated a Ribbon Cutting of its new 3000sq. foot building to serve more children in need. As we expand and move into our new building, we have begun a ‘Yellow BRICK Road’ Brick Campaign to acknowledge and commemorate the growth of our students and the forming of their legacy. Join is in celebrating these students as they mature from children who struggled in traditional learning environments who now possess the foundational skill sets to be life-long learners and achieve great successes throughout their life.
By a BRICK (or many Bricks) today and join us in honoring these students. Those whose names are engraved on the Bricks will actually become part of Legacy for all to recognize and acknowledge their contributions to Legacy and the field of dyslexia.
